Get Ready for NSS/MIC/RTSD 2026

Preparations for Nuclear Science Symposium, Medical Imaging, and Room-Temperature Semiconductor Detectors Conference (NSS/MIC/RTSD) have entered their final stretch. Over the past months, the organizing committee has worked hard to create an excellent scientific and community program.
The conference will take place in Granada, Spain, from November 7 – 14, 2026, at the Granada Conference and Exhibition Centre, a modern venue within walking distance of the historic city center.
Granada will provide an inspiring setting in which to reconnect, exchange ideas, and celebrate the breadth of our community. Alongside the scientific program, attendees can look forward to opportunities to experience Spanish culture through food, music, and the city’s remarkable heritage.
The Technical Program Is Ready
Our Technical Chairs have now completed the technical program: Audrey C. Therrien and Giulia Hull for NSS, Vesna Sossi and Roger Fulton for MIC, and Michael Fiederle and Gerard Ariño-Estrada for RTSD. The program was assembled from more than 1,200 submissions and supported by 3,800 reviews. This is an impressive collective achievement. We thank the committee and every reviewer for the time, care, and expertise they contributed.

As usual, the conference abstracts will be published in IEEE Xplore, ensuring that the work presented in Granada remains accessible to the wider scientific and engineering community.
Short Courses, Workshops, and Users’ Meetings
This year’s short-course program spans a broad range of timely subjects: front-end electronics; analog and digital SPAD-based photodetectors; scientific writing and publishing; semiconductor detectors; fast-timing scintillation detectors; medical imaging with AI; and total-body PET. The courses are designed to support both newcomers to these fields and experienced researchers seeking a focused update.
The conference will also host workshops and users’ meetings on digital SiPMs; AI in Nuclear Science and Nuclear Medical Imaging; total-body kinetic modeling; theranostic imaging; SimSET; OpenGATE; and STIR. Full details of the short courses and workshops are available in the Online Program. Please note that some activities require registration.
Connecting the Community
We are pleased to include a special combined Women in Engineering (WIE) and Young Professionals (YP) event. Bringing these communities together will create a welcoming opportunity to meet colleagues, share experiences, and strengthen connections across career stages.
The social program will extend these conversations beyond the conference sessions. The NSS dinner will be held at El Claustro, while the MIC dinner and RTSD Luncheon will take place at Carmen de los Chapiteles, with a surprise at each event. We will also gather for a special conference reception at the venue, with another surprise planned there.
Our aim is for every attendee to sample a little of Spanish culture, for example through food or music. We hope to see many of you at these events and to have the opportunity to chat in person.
Discover Granada
Do not miss the exclusive range of organized sightseeing tours. Reservations are already filling quickly, so please book quickly if there is a tour you would especially like to join. A sightseeing booth will also be available at the conference for attendees who prefer to make a spontaneous booking on site.
A Community Effort
Finally, I would like to offer my sincere thanks once again to the entire organizing committee – it is a great team to work with! I am equally grateful to all reviewers, topic conveners, and upcoming session chairs, as well as to every attendee planning to join us. Your engagement keeps our community alive and vibrant.
We look forward to welcoming you to Granada in November.
