RADECS 2026 Preparations Are in Full Swing

Benedikt Bergmann, RADECS general chair

The RADECS Association Meeting took place in Prague on April 21–22, where the Steering Committee gained firsthand insight into the progress of the conference organization and confirmed the suitability of the selected venues. The all-day program was complemented by a dinner, introducing the meeting participants modern Czech cuisine, while not missing the obligatory Czech beer.

The RADECS association meeting, held in Prague, included a busy program including visits of the venues. In the evening the meeting participants were introduced to the modern Czech cuisine. The evening also featured the obligatory Czech lager.

Upcoming RADECS 2026 will feature

  • Technical sessions,
  • a 3-day industrial exhibition,
  • a one-day thematic workshop entitled “Measuring to Protect Future Missions: The Critical Role of Detection and Novel Dosimetry in Harsh Radiation Environments”,
  • Technical visits to the cutting-edge facilities and companies ELI Beams, AdvaSpace and UJP Prague.
  • a Women In Engineering (WIE) panel discussion,
  • a student event, “Young Minds”, targeted at undergrad and high school students
  • as well as a rich social program with a Welcome reception at the Strahov Brewery(exploring the Czech Republic’s proud beer culture), a Soccer Tournament at Slavoj Vysehrad, and a Gala Dinner at Palace Zofin in the very heart of Prague.

The registration for RADECS 2026 is now open. Register before August to secure the early-bird registration fee.

Thematic Workshop

Workshop chairs Giovanni Santin (ESA) and Stefania Peracchi (ANSTO) have curated an outstanding program featuring an excellent lineup of distinguished speakers. The sessions will cover the latest results from in-orbit space environment measurements and simulations, provide insights from the accelerator community, and explore best practices for translating cutting-edge technologies into practical applications. The program will also address preparing these technologies for space missions. Each session will conclude with a panel discussion, fostering active engagement between the audience and speakers and encouraging in-depth exchange of ideas.

The Bethlehem Chapel will host the Thematic Workshop. The chapel dates back to the 14th century, while its current appearance is the results of a historically-accurate reconstruction from the 1950s. Based on historical records, its medieval appearance and significance were restored. As a fun fact: Asteroid 90892, discovered in 1997, was named after the chapel.

Technical Program

The Technical Committee is currently reviewing submitted abstracts to assemble a strong technical program. We would like to thank all authors for their valuable contributions and rely on our excellent Technical Committee to identify and select the most impactful submissions.

Authors will be notified of acceptance by June 20, 2026. To accommodate the presentation of recent results, a late-news paper submission window will be open from June 13 to July 4, 2026.

Exhibition

RADECS2026 features a 3-day industrial exhibition with leading companies. To date, 66 exhibitors have committed. Further companies can be accommodated.

Young Minds@RADECS 2026

Young Minds will provide up to 20 students with access to the conference.

Building on the success of previous editions, the 2026 conference will once again feature Young Minds, a student event aimed at undergraduate and local students. Participants will receive one-day access to the conference, including a guided tour of the industrial exhibition and a dedicated evening networking event. This initiative provides a valuable opportunity to expand their professional network, connect with potential future employers, and explore internship possibilities.

The Young Minds organizers thank IEEE NPSS Young Professional and IEEE Czechoslovakia section, whose support makes this event possible.

Explore NPSS Early Career Researcher Grants

IEEE NPSS provides funding for Early Career Scientists covering travel and conference fees of up to 5,000 USD. The deadline for application is June 30, 2026.

The RADECS 2026 organizers look forward to your contributions and hope to welcome you to Prague in autumn!
