First Winner of the “Schools to Conference” Travel Grant Attends NSS/MIC/RTSD 2024
The new “Schools to Conference” travel grant allows an invitation to invite a participant of an EduCom school to attend a NPSS conference (or similar event). The grant is financed by NPSS as an initiative for the years 2024-2026.
Here is the account of the first awardee, Mustapha Chaoui, PhD student from Morocco, to NSS-MIC-RTSD in Tampa.
From attending the IEEE NPSS EduCom school in Rabat, Morocco (July 1–11, 2024), to participating in the IEEE NSS MIC RTSD, the largest IEEE NPSS conference with 2,000 global attendees in Tampa, Florida (October 26–November 3, 2024), my journey has been both enriching and inspiring.
The IEEE EduCom school was hosted this year by the Faculty of Sciences in Rabat, Morocco, from July 1 to 11, 2024. For details please see the separate article in this newsletter.
But the journey didn’t end there. The IEEE NPSS committee concluded the school program with a memorable dinner at a cultural villa in Rabat. To my surprise, I was honored with an award to attend the largest conference organized by IEEE NPSS, held in Tampa, Florida.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect with distinguished experts and innovators from diverse fields, gaining valuable insights into groundbreaking research that is poised to shape the future of both technology and healthcare. Additionally, this was my first time in the United States, an experience that was both personally and professionally enriching. I truly appreciate the invaluable exposure and knowledge I gained, which will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on my academic and professional journey.
The award I received to attend the IEEE NSS MIC RTSD conference in Tampa was an unexpected and profound privilege. This conference provided me with the opportunity to connect with distinguished scientists, gain insights into groundbreaking research, and broaden my understanding of the critical issues shaping the future of technology and healthcare.
I am deeply appreciative of the support I received from IEEE NPSS and all those involved in making these experiences possible. This journey has significantly enriched my academic and professional development, and I look forward to applying the knowledge and skills gained to my future work in the fields of nuclear science and medical physics.
