President’s Report

President, IEEE NPSS
Dear IEEE NPSS Members,
As we conclude another quarter, I am inspired by the sustained dedication and vision of our nuclear and plasma sciences community. Thanks to your continued involvement, NPSS remains at the forefront of innovation and collaboration in the nuclear and plasma sciences.
Our society provides unique opportunities for scientific exchange at NPSS-sponsored conferences. We are planning several exciting gatherings around the globe!
This fall, the 2025 RADiation and its Effects on Components and Systems (RADECS) Conference in Antwerp, Belgium, will bring together experts to discuss advances in radiation effects on electronic systems. Soon after, the flagship 2025 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium, Medical Imaging Conference, and Room-Temperature Semiconductor Detector Conference (NSS/MIC/RTSD) will convene in Yokohama, Japan, providing a comprehensive forum for advancements in nuclear science and technology.
Looking ahead to 2026, members can look forward to the Real Time Conference (RTC) in Elba Island, Italy, focusing on cutting-edge real-time instrumentation and software, and the International Conference on Plasma Science (ICOPS) in Stateline, Nevada, which will showcase developments in plasma physics research. Rounding out our conferences, the Nuclear and Space Radiation Effects Conference (NSREC) will take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, fostering dialogue around radiation effects in space and nuclear applications. All our conferences offer invaluable opportunities for presenting research, networking, and staying at the forefront of scientific progress in our fields.
I encourage all members to participate, whether as presenters, volunteers, or attendees — these gatherings are vital for sharing ideas and encouraging new, multidisciplinary collaborations across academia, industry, and national laboratories.
Prof. Gian Franco Dalla Betta has been appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science (TNS), one of our leading journals. Prof. Della Betta brings a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to technical excellence and scientific rigor. I invite you to congratulate him and consider submitting your research to TNS as it enters this exciting new era of editorial leadership.
The Chapters Engagement Workshop is a new, virtual event designed to bring together NPSS Chapter Chairs and leaders from around the world for a lively exchange of ideas, shared experiences, and forward-looking discussions. Stay tuned for detailed announcements and registration information on the NPSS website.
As always, I urge you to get involved, attend an NPSS conference or event, volunteer in our technical or outreach activities, nominate deserving colleagues for NPSS awards, engage with us on social media and stay updated via our website. Your engagement shapes the future of NPSS and of nuclear and plasma sciences worldwide.
With gratitude for your ongoing support and enthusiasm,
Sara Pozzi, Ph.D.
