President’s Report

President, IEEE NPSS
Dear IEEE NPSS Members,
Welcome to our dynamic IEEE NPSS newsletter! I am honored to take on the role of President, and eager to serve our society and further our mission of advancing the nuclear and plasma sciences!
The NPSS enjoys a distinguished reputation for excellence and innovation, thanks to the outstanding contributions of our global members and volunteers. Our society encompasses diverse technical areas, such as medical imaging, plasma and fusion physics, radiation instrumentation, and radiation effects. Together, we are uniquely prepared to tackle critical challenges in health, nuclear security, energy, and more.
I’d like to especially welcome the new members of our NPSS Administrative Committee (AdCom). Election to our AdCom marks a significant professional milestone, and I encourage you to leverage this position to make meaningful contributions and form valuable collaborations within our society and beyond.
In my capacity as President, I am fully dedicated to working with each of you to extend and amplify the impact of our activities, including conferences, journals, educational programs, and other initiatives. I am especially committed to engaging students, postdoctoral researchers, and young professionals, offering them opportunities to contribute, learn, and develop within our society.
If you wish to become more involved in NPSS activities — be it reviewing papers, organizing conferences, or supporting diversity, inclusion, and humanitarian efforts — I invite you to connect with me or any of our Technical or Functional Committee Chairs for guidance. Your involvement is crucial to our society and provides a fulfilling opportunity to broaden your professional network and advance your career.
For those who have not yet joined NPSS, I warmly encourage you to become a member. Membership offers a range of benefits, including support for students, young professionals, and Women in Engineering through special programs that promote professional growth and leadership development. As your career progresses, you can also be recognized for your accomplishments through our awards and by advancing to Senior Member and Fellow status.
Please visit our website frequently for the latest updates on our activities and initiatives. Additionally, follow our Facebook on LinkedIn pages to stay informed about news and announcements.
Thank you for your support and dedication to NPSS. Together, we will advance the fields of nuclear and plasma sciences and make a significant, positive impact on society.
Warm regards,
Sara Pozzi, Ph.D.
