President’s Report

As we near the close of 2025, the NPSS has seen significant progress across the three priority areas established at our March AdCom meeting and retreat.
First, in our aim to expand the reach and impact of our society we have advanced our publication and technical excellence through successful conferences. Our recent IEEE/NSS/MIC/RTSD conference attended by nearly 1,800 of our community stood out as very successful.
Second, we are enhancing our efforts to further engage students and young professionals, nurturing the next generation of leaders in the nuclear and plasma sciences. For example, at our recent Administrative Committee meeting, we established the new Collaboration and Engagement Committee, further strengthening our efforts to foster community and growth among emerging scientists and engineers.
Finally, to strengthen relationships with the broader IEEE organization, including the Technical Activities Board and Other Societies, I am delighted to announce that Vesna Sossi has been elected Division IV director. Her appointment is a testament to the leadership and expertise within our NPSS community, and we look forward to working with her in this new capacity.
I am inspired by the sustained dedication and vision of our nuclear and plasma sciences community of volunteers. Thanks to your continued involvement, the NPSS remains at the forefront of innovation and collaboration in the nuclear and plasma sciences.
As a reminder NPSS offers a robust awards program, with many award nominations due by January 31. I encourage you to nominate a deserving colleague for one of these awards. You can find out more information on how to do so on our website (https://ieee-npss.org/awards/npss-awards/)
As always, I urge you to get involved, attend an NPSS conference or event, volunteer in our technical or outreach activities, nominate deserving colleagues for NPSS awards, connect with us on social media and stay updated via our website. Your engagement shapes the future of NPSS and of nuclear and plasma sciences worldwide.
With gratitude for your ongoing support and enthusiasm,
Sara Pozzi, Ph.D.
