The International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) is a unique science and education institution located in the coastal city of Quy Nhon, Vietnam. It welcomes national and international conferences, specialized professional colloquia, as well as selected Thematic Schools, in particular for doctoral students and has full support and appreciation of the local and national authorities. ICISE was the venue of the 2024 NPSS Real Time Conference. Associated to ICISE is Explorascience, a science museum reaching out to the general public and children in particular.

During 2024, and with support from IEEE NPSS, ICISE realized an interactive educational display called “Environment Education Garden” or “EnviEduGarden”. Various displays and exhibits installed in the tropical grove surrounding ICISE which spans approximately 2,000 m², encompassing ponds, lakes, and natural landscapes. EnviEduGarden intends to educate about practices that have a negative impact on the environment. At the same time it wants to raise awareness for environmentally friendly technological solutions. The target audience are school children and teachers, international visitors to ICISE and the general public.

To this goal 19 posters about environmental topics (waste, water, ecosystems) have been installed in a garden at the ICISE site. Also 6 exhibits for hands-on activities have been created. EnviEduGarden officially opened in February 2025. Additional posters and models (wind energy, wave barriers, terraced fields, model of past and present environments) will be added before summer 2025. By then the posters (so far available in Vietnamese only) will be translated to English.

Already more than 1000 students from primary, junior high, high schools and the general public in Quy Nhon and Binh Dinh province have visited EnviEduGarden and participated in experimental activities. The exhibition can be considered a success: surveys show that the visitors are able to absorb the knowledge presented in the exhibition (ages 7-11 95%, ages >11 100%).

EnviEduGarden was financially supported by IEEE NPSS as a 1 year initiative (project). Watch this video about EnviEduGarden: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7qk3iSRQwA
