RADECS 2026 Opens Abstract Submission and Sponsor/Exhibit Registration

The local organizers took the RADECS association flag sightseeing. First stop: The historic “Orloj,” the oldest astronomical clock, which is still in operation.

While most of us were stunned by the beauty of space radiation creating northern lights visible even at lower latitudes, recent headlines of a space-radiation issue that grounded Airbus aircraft are a powerful reminder of the importance of predicting and mitigating radiation effects in electronics.

Benedikt Bergmann, RADECS general chair

The RADECS conference series advances the understanding of radiation environments, space-weather and forecasting. Further, RADECS serves as a platform to define standards for radiation testing and electronics design, ensuring the success of space missions, but also protecting technologies we rely on every day, such as commercial aviation systems.

In 2026, the RADECS conference will take place in Prague from 27 September – 2 October.

It features:

  •  A four-day technical program with plenary and poster sessions and a dedicated data workshop
  • A full-day thematic workshop titled “Measuring to Protect Future Missions: The Critical Role of Detection and Novel Dosimetry in Harsh Radiation Environments”
  • A three-day industrial exhibition with an industrial exhibit reception
  • A student day with a networking event
  • A rich social program including an excursion to Kutna Hora, a welcome reception, a soccer tournament and the gala dinner

The conference and technical committees invite you to become part of RADECS 2026 as a presenter, sponsor or exhibitor.

The abstract submission is open until April 19, 2026

The technical committee solicits your papers describing significant new findings or developments in the following areas:

  • Radiation Effects Modelling
    • SEE Mechanisms and Modelling
    • Simulation of radiation effects in mixed radiation environments
  • Single Event Effects in Devices and Integrated Circuits
  • Radiation Effects in Photonics, Optoelectronics and Sensors
  • Radiation Effects in Devices and Integrated Circuits
    • Total Ionizing Dose (TID)
    • Total Non-Ionizing Dose (TNID)
    • Synergetic Effects
    • Single Event Effects (SEE)
  • Radiation Effects in Complex Devices and Systems
  • Radiation Hardening Techniques (Device, Board and System Level)
  • Radiation Test Facilities & Dosimetry (including novel instrumentation and methods for radiation field characterization and dosimetry in space and at test-facilities)
  • Basic Mechanisms of Radiation Effects (including the radiation response of wide bandgap semiconductors)
  • Radiation Environments
  • Radiation Hardness Assurance

Papers accepted for oral, and poster presentation at the technical program will be eligible for publication in a special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science. Selection for this issue will be based on a separate submission of a complete paper that will be subject to the standard full peer review.

The submission process is described here.

Student and travel grants

ESA Academy provides a student grant covering conference participation and travel allowance to the 3 best student papers.

The RADECS Association will further cover the registration fees of three students for both the Thematic Workshop and Technical Sessions.

In addition, IEEE membership to leadership M2L supports 2 participants preferably with a scientific contribution committing to help with the promotion at the IEEE stand.

Sponsor and exhibitor registration

The conference will feature an Industrial Exhibition, organized by Teresa Farris (Archon LLC) and Ondrej Betak (Unites a.s.). The exhibition will bring together leading companies, agencies, and universities specializing in the development and manufacturing of electronic devices and systems for space and nuclear environments, as well as radiation effects modeling and analysis, and radiation testing facilities and equipment.

The Industrial Exhibit Chairs extend their sincere gratitude to all sponsors and exhibitors who have already committed to RADECS 2026. Additional exhibitors and sponsors are warmly welcome and will be accommodated. Information and registration details are available here.
